This Friday, November 1st, I will be officially reach the milestone at which society calls me a ‘senior.’ Here’s how I’m spending the next 10 days (my live presentations will be at the Marlene Meyerson JCC on the Upper West Side of Manhattan):
- Mon, Oct. 28 – teaching a class for SeniorTechNYC on Using Your Smartphone to Take Great Pictures, a hobby that has brought me great pleasure in recent years.
- Tue, Oct 29 AM – visiting Ruth Rosner, a 103 year old DOROT Client. (Read about what I learned.)
- Tue, Oct 29 PM – leading my monthly online class for the Virtual Senior Center. This month I will discuss the book Women Rowing North: Navigating Life’s Currents and Flourishing As We Age.
- Wed, Oct 30 – meeting with an individual client on how to transfer data from a website to a Facebook author page
- Mon, Nov 4 (afternoon)- facilitating a session on Communicating in a Changing World at the 4th Annual Symposium on Positive Aging.
- Tue, Nov 5 (evening) – presenting another SeniorTechNYC class on Living with Alexa and the Google Assistant – An Introduction to Smart Devices.
Since March, I have also helped to roll out a new One-on-One Technology Coaching Program for Dorot, where we help older adults to use their smart phones to connect to others and live independently.
As I prepare to celebrate my birthday, I invite you to Grow Old With Me (this new version of John Lennon’s song was just released by 79 year old Ringo Starr on his latest album).
Happy birthday, Norman! You do excellent and important work with our community and it’s much appreciated.
Thanks so much, Wendl!
Norman,
