My New Gig – Director of Older Adult Services

On Friday, November 18th, I started a new job as Director of Older Adult Services at Greenwich House in NYC. I am very gratified to continue my work serving older adults after having done so for the Selfhelp Virtual Senior Center, DOROT and GetSetUp for the past ten years.

After focusing on in person programs at DOROT and on virtual programs at Selfhelp and GetSetUp, it is especially gratifying to manage a group that provides programming on both platforms. For the first time in 2 1/2 years, I am again traveling to Manhattan where I will serve clients living mostly in Greenwich Village who use services at four senior centers.

I am especially impressed with staff I have met so far who share my enthusiasm for helping older people to live better lives. Of course I will continue to be in touch with colleagues and clients of the organizations I have worked with, many who are now my friends.

I wasn’t sure what the next step in my career would be after my role at GetSetUp was reduced earlier this year, but I can’t think of a better option than Greenwich House, which provides a wide range of services for all ages, and has done so for 120 years!

  1. It seems like very interesting and important work you are doing.
I think you have a great name for you site: “Your Age Doesn’t Matter”. Healthy aging is so important. I would love learn more about your experiences at SelfHelp and GetSetUP.
One reasons we at Hearing Center of Long Island are dedicate to what we do is that proper treatment of hearing loss helps to alleviate one of the reasons people don’t have a life that is as fulfilling as it should be as they age.
    Keep up the good work!
