DOROT’s Thanksgiving Banquet

Two clients of DOROT’s Tech Coaching Program (which I’ve helped to roll out this year) at the Thanksgiving Banquet

For many years I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering at DOROT’s annual Thanksgiving Banquet, which was held Sunday, Nov. 24 at Congregation Rodeph Sholom on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Now as a DOROT employee, I helped not only to serve the meal, but also assisted to prepare meal packages which were delivered to older adults in their home. Between the banquet and the home deliveries, apx 700 seniors enjoyed holiday meals, with the help of hundreds of volunteers. Many of these older adults no longer have families or friends nearby to celebrate the holiday with, so this was an especially important event!

The banquet provided many opportunities for inter-generational interactions between volunteers and older adults.

The banquet has always been one of my favorite events, and it was especially satisfying this year to participate as a DOROT staff member. View more photos of the event.

  1. How wonderful to see so many familiar faces celebrating together. It’s all about community! This is a beautiful tradition. Thank you to all who make it happen.
